Lady boy dating
2020.11.27 08:19 montysomebody questioning myself
hello! so i’m a 21yo bi, cis gal. i’ve always been pretty comfortable with my gender and for the most part i still am. i’ve never really questioned being a girl during my childhood (as far as i can remember.) however .... i dated a trans gal last year - i knew her for years and started dating her thinking she was a guy, but she came out a few months in. while we broke up a while later (for reasons unrelated), we are still close friends, and seeing her transition has made me think a little bit. i also have a lot of nb/otherwise gender-funky friends who i’ve been looking up to as well. these are the things i’ve experienced lately that have been bouncing around in my head: - i am very very inspired by drag kings as well as butch ladies and would love to present more masculinely - i am “cute.” like. tiny, the smallest button nose you’ve ever seen, big eyes, curly hair, soft everything. i like this - when i can own it and make it work as a look....... but it does stop me from exploring any gender feelings too heavily, though, because the looks i would love to emulate are literally impossible for me. i would kill to be tall, lean, sharp-faced, with a strong nose.... - this might be the most damning one - i attach myself to male characters WAY easier than female ones and kind of hate having a female character represent me. - this hit home today for some reason because i was playing a jackbox game with my friends, where you pick generic cartoon face avatars, and i was annoyed being stuck with the woman ones .... - it feels like my real self is a girl but whenever i represent myself in art, games, anything more conceptual, i project onto a guy, because projecting onto a girl feels too “close to home” and weird. i don’t know - i just wanna look more masculine but i know if i try i’ll just look like a 12 year old boy :^( and i’m mostly fine with being a girl :^( mostly.... help :^( thank you so much for any advice

2020.11.26 15:04 marigoldilocks_ Is there a latelatebloomerlesbians sub?
I got divorced from a 14 year long marriage in Dec of 2017 at 38. Partially because I figured out I also like women.
I had never had the opportunity to explore that side of myself and there were other things wrong with the marriage besides - he was an abusive, narcissistic asshole, specifically. Anyway, it’s taken the better part of three years just to get my shit together enough to be semi-functional as a human.
But here’s the thing - I’m 41. I don’t relate AT ALL to all the late bloomer posts from the Gen Z crowd. Sorry, but if you’re in your early to mid twenties, you have so. many. opportunities. around you. You live in a practical dearth of beautiful women to date.
What about Online Dating (OLD) yeah. That’s gotten me stood up no less than three times, once that left me crying on New Years Eve alone downtown because I thought I was strong enough to just go hang out and maybe I could flirt with women and NOPE. Spent three hours alone, talking to randos who all had groups of friends they were with and finally broke into at midnight.
Okay, well pre-Covid did I go out to gay bars? Yes. I did. And I’m REALLY good at attracting the bi boys. Sorry friendo, but right now, I would like to kiss a lady. And our gay bars are gay clubs - you go to dance.
So back to OLD. Right. Okay, so my age range is what? 46 - 36? Too much older and it gets weird because my sister is ten years older then me and I was the “safety net” that just assigned to her to keep her out trouble. So going much beyond 5 years up makes me feel like I’m just hanging with my sister’s friends. Too much younger than 36 and I start to run into the opposite issue.
Maybe I want that 20-something experience? That fun meet up, going out together, making plans, dating someone. But people my age have dated. They don’t want to date around, they all seem to want to find their person and settle down. I’m not interested in settling down. I just got rid of that life. I don’t want the house and the mortgage and picket fence.
And I don’t know. Maybe it’s the whole misery loves company adage but I sort of feel bitter and resentful seeing these late bloomers who have so many options and so much life left and I sort of feel like by the time I bloomed, the sun was gone and the gardener is busy watering other beds and I just want to find another flower but I’m all alone over here. I’m alone and there’s nothing but dried, and dying leaves on my branch. And maybe I’ll wither and just drop my petals and no one will know or care.

2020.11.26 11:09 Mimerme lol
My first memory is of me still being coddled in my mothers arms while she was arguing with her mother, my grandmother. I don't remember what it was about but I remember my mother crying, carrying me out to the porch, and swinging on our old green swinging bench thing. I think I fell asleep in her arms. I normally cut it off at the first half when people ask me what my first memory was. I remember telling her about this years later (relatively recently) at the dinner table and she just kind of laughed and noted how good my memory was even from a young age. lol.
I don't remember a lot of great things from my childhood. Maybe if I list out the bad I can finally find the good.
- My father had a fascination with exercise, something he still holds to this day. I knew poor health ran in the family, his father had died at the ripe age of 50, and I don't know who but I remember him telling me the story of someone (maybe family?) who died after pedaling too hard to in the rain and dying of heart attack? after suddenly stopping after reaching home. I understood why he cared, but he wanted me to care. So we'd go on these runs, runs that I didn't want to. I'd trudge along behind as slow as possible to emulate walking, but keeping only one foot on the ground at a time because tHaTs RuNnInG. I don't remember what happened but I just remember one day I think I had enough. I refused to do whatever and ran to the side of the house and started screaming "child abuse" at the top of my lungs. Because I had hopped that someone would hear it and child protective services would finally take me away. Because this wasn't the first time I felt like that. My old neighbor one day mentioned it to me that he'd heard it and asked what it was about. And now that I think about it I must've been in 6th or 7th grade. I laughed it off I think and pawned it off as a joke of some sorts. People had heard it, I wonder why no on reacted.
- I remember when my dad promised me to go bowling and didn't take me. I didn't even like bowling, I could barely pickup any of the balls. But when I asked him about it later he'd said he didn't remember. I never felt so betrayed and when I pressed further he said he never made such claims. I learned that people forget, and as a result they disapoint. Humans are not flawless, be prepared.
- I remember when my mother came home and ripped up my Super Mario Galaxy Handbook because I hadn't finished my homework before reading it. I was where I am sitting now and she comes home and I don't remember the exact events but she just ripped it up and it tore me to shreds. This was when I used to wake up excited everyday to play a little bit of wii before school and on weekends. Galaxy was my main game at the time and I'd always sit in my tiny red chair and play while looking straight at our ginormous tv. Reading the handbook was my way of playing without playing. And she wanted me to read. She came home and tore it. Not in a show a strength but perhaps frustration. She had difficulty doing it and looking back at it now: she tried to tear the bindings first and and could barely do it so she resorted to just ripped out the pages one by one as I stood by crying and begging her to stop. I took that book everywhere (really just school and home lol). Later I found the book poorly taped together with scotch tape. Not a single word was said to me. My father would later give me a new one. I assume he was the one who taped it up. I still have the new one in my room and I could've sworn I saw the old one in the guest room but when I went to look for it it wasn't there. lol, just like how our family always was. Pretend like it never happened
- When my grandmother died I remembered thinking: lol why should I give a shit (not exactly but same idea). I remembered her as the lady who argued with my mom. I remember sitting in the living room watching the funeral service and getting bored. Why would I care about a random lady.
- I remember when my grandfather was still in America and he picked me up from elementary school. I had just made a cat in the hat hat out of paper. I was really happy for some reason and was just messing and running around on the walk home. Suddenly a gust of wind came and blew the hat out of my hands and I went around desperately chasing it as went down the sidewalk and neared the gutter. My heart was racing and I was so worried of it falling. I finally caught it. I looked at my grandfather. "Serves you right for being so rowdy." He's old now. And when he finally dies senile, "serves you right for being so old." lol
- I remember my sister calling me a brat, entitled, and saying that my parents were easier on me. Shed pull me by the hair and ear and pull me to dinner. One day when she did it I finally had enough. I had finally gotten tall enough to the point where I didn't need to stand for this physical bull shit. I grabbed her by the hair when she did mine and made sure she knew that. She was mad, and stormed off driving. This was when she was in high school I think.
- My mom used to force me to sleep with her for her naps. When I said I wasn't tired she said, "just don't move and you'll fall asleep". And I'd move and she'd yell at my for moving. She was right, not moving did help me fall sleep. (It also can cause sleep paralysis I later learned?). But I remember always waking up from the naps and feeling like I had wasted time. I wasnt tired and sleeping didn't change anything. One day enough was enough. I finally stormed out, locked myself in my room, grabbed like 200 dollars I had from gifts, took out the window screen and shimmied my way down and started running. With only socks. It hurt when I went over the prickly tree stuff. My mother pulled up in her van on the phone said "I found him" and followed me. I said I wanted to go to the orphanage by the taco bell. She told me it was a senior citizen home. I said I didn't care. She said she could take me to the rack bell and then drop me off after. So we went as a family to the taco bell and never talked about the incident. Again. And she never dropped me off. We drove by, and I sat there thinking. "I just need to stick through it. This is optimal. They have the resources"
- I remember my mother chasing me around the dinner table trying to spank me for something. I was crying and begging for help because my father and sister were right there. My dad tried to stop her, but in the way were one gives up if it doesn't work the first time. She caught me.
- I remember hitting my mom in the face as a baby. She said no and hit me in the face back.
- When I broke my femur as I was waiting for the ambulance I told her "don't stop them from giving me painkillers."
- When i needed antibiotics to treat the infection in my surgery area I remember hugging her around the waist like I used to willingly long ago. She was arguing with my sister about my antibiotics. She wanted to make sure I was getting the right one because I needed to switch between some since I was allergic. My sister was in school to become a pharmacist. She answered my mother's question, but perhaps not as confidently as my mother would've liked. They argued. I rergreted giving her that hug.
- I remember when my leg was just starting to heal up and I was off crutches. I was staying up late on my computer and this was when mother couldn't go to sleep when I wasn't asleep. borat voice very nice. She cried. My father came down and smashed my monitor, the one that we bought during black friday as costco on a family trip. I wasn't upset at the materialistic aspect, he's the fucking idiot who smashed the monitor he bought with his own money. I looked at him and walked out the door. Mother chased after me crying begging me to come home. I told her I couldn't feel anymore. My leg was sore because I was still in pt. I walked along the suburban streets until I reached out neighborhood hospital. There was a policeman. He stopped me and asked what happened. I said ... I don't know what I said. Maybe that they broke my shit, or that I was running away? Mother called father. He picked us up. I bought 2 of the same monitor (lol I had an uneven pair before) for a dual monitor setup, and when those came in I moved my computer to my room. They didn't let me do that before. Mother said "did you buy those monitors? Tell me next time." Its not that I didn't feel, I didn't feel my love for them. Only a few more years.
- I remember multiple occurrences of me threatening to run away. Mother would say "what would you take with you, I own everything you have." When I once finally started approaching the door she just kept saying whenever I reached for something "nope you can't take that that's mine". Even to the shoes.
- Oh yeah also mom told me and my sister if it weren't for the kids my parents wouldn't be together. Also my mom chucked a remote at my dad hard enough to break through the drywall. He had to duck. If he didn't...
There are no good memories. People say cherish the things you have because one day you won't have them anymore. Seems like a lazy way of saying be happy with what you have. Happiness is earned.
My parents cooked and cleaned for me. Why didn't they let me do it as chores when I asked them when I was younger. Is this some twisted stockholm syndrome. That if I feared doing these things myself I'd want them around more. It'd nice that I don't have to cook when I come home. And I get to see the dogs. That's about where the list ends.
Weed was my coping mechanism, a way to tell myself I loved my parents. Because when you're high you love everything. And I realized early on, before I even started smoking the high I got from wining video games would transfer into my daily life, so I could ignore the shitty things and focus on the mediocre and pretend like they were stellar. "There's kids in Africa..." "Poorer people exist". "Consider yourself lucky". Id ride the high of other things to ignore the past and tell myself these things to keep myself satisfied.
My emotions were never treated. I dealt with them as any first generation Asian-American would, I burred them. Bringing them up would be a mistake, everyone would always been defensive and how I actually deserved it. This was probably early on because I haven't confronted them since. As an adult I look back on how my philosophy has developed. Never forget these:
- Don't bother bringing things up. It's not worth the effort
- I'll never treat my kids like my parents treated me
- I want fame and fortune only to never contact or credit my parents (they'd always say "oh when we're old you'll take care of us")
The last one has died out, and the second one will always stand. But the first one I've been questioning. Where did this come from. I had mastered the usage of ambiguous grunts, muttered answers, and "i'll see" as non-answers to parents asking me about my day, food, whatever. It might've been in good faith, but I still found their existence to be burden. They were more legal guardians than parents. Recently when they once again triggered me my touching and throwing away my shit without asking (it was weed related. that better not change your perception much. idk i feel like it might. or specifically for when i was expressing my anger towards them) mother pinned it on me for not communicating. Yes i don't communicate. Because for some reason I believe its easier to not. Why? Well I theorize its because when I'd bring up my emotions as a child, "boys don't cry", "be man in asian dad accent
", "well you..." were all common responses. I think I realized it just wasn't worth it. It was easier to just look at a computer screen, laugh with my friends and pretend like they didn't exist.
Recently I was comparing Reddit account ages with my friends. I joined in 2013. I think that might've contributed to my jadedness. I knew anyone could lie on the internet, but what really differentiates realistic fiction from non-fiction. If you can't even tell the difference, isn't there something to be learned from either. Non-fiction would mean you learned from someone else's experience. Realistic fiction means you learned from someone else's interpretation of a fictional experience. At the end of the day you're still learning something. I remember reading AskReddit threads, I always found them interesting. It was like peering into other people's lives and getting their perspective. And a lot of times there would be topics of shitty parents. I'd always compare mine to theirs and be like "well at least mine care and didn't rape me/go to jail/starve me". But for the milder ones, "yeah i cut off connections and haven't talked to them in years" seemed common. I always figured I'd go that route.
This all started when my girlfriend and I broke up and I took a step back. I realized I was using her to fill the void of emotional intimacy's that I never had from my family. That coupled with society's liberal use of the word "love" and how its usage is elastic. When we were dating I always felt like things were moving a bit too fast, and that in reality we weren't a good fit for each other. I was an overthinker because facts don't care about your feelings, and that's the power of facts. She was a more reserved individual who loved her family dearly and treated them as actually beams of support. I was jealous, but primarily in awe of such a relationship. I wanted her to be the beams of emotional support that my parents never were for me, but understandably she didn't want to.
The thought of my parents death brings me no feeling. I've run it multiple times in the present and in the past. In the past the primary thought was, "who'd pay the bills and do all the parent things" I assumed it'd be my older sister, but the thought of responsibility was what shook me. And as college came closer and closer I realized that when my parents finally die it'd probably be in another state or country, doing my own thing because I share nothing in common with them besides their shitty genetics. Would I even go to the funeral. Probably because I'd seem like an ass if I didn't. But I always imagined myself giving a eulogy for my mother (she'd always say how she'd die first of the two) and say "I hated her for what she did to me and I wish she'd know how much pain she caused before she died." Kind of like the whole Bojack churro thing. I'll probably send this to them at some point. Maybe when I off myself.
I have friends, but I don't trust them. I don't even trust myself. The shifting of blame during discussions had forced me to become self-aware at a young age. At first I'd believe what they'd say, but I realized I had my own mind, and could think for myself. Everyone makes mistakes, and I honestly believe humans are naturally good, but even good humans make mistakes. Some refuse to admit it. This isn't a call to my parents, I think I've settled with the fact that they'll either support me or chalk this up to marijuana withdrawal or coronavirus. This goes beyond that. I want to be happy on my own. To be financially, emotionally, and physically independent. Social used to be in there to but I realize that parents are only around for about half your life, even less for others. The people you meet and the friends you make are what last. And I need to somehow figure out how to make that work, to get an emotionally intimate relationship with others. Maybe this is the first step. I'll figure that out on season two with my therapist i guess. lol.
irony is my only coping mechanism lol. give me karma. for my irl friends sup.

FTM (21) here, currently 35 + 4 day preggo. Working at Walmart when I’m very under appreciated for the work I do considering the fact everything hurts and we’re in a pandemic. People in Walmart aren’t enforced to wear a mask where I live even though our cases are VERY high, yet costumers still get close to me to ask me where everything in the store is..... also I’ve noticed many employees and costumers do not wash their hands after using the restroom... disgusting. Everyone here is so entitled and I’m tired of the stupid comments costumers make on my pregnancy. For example Woman: OMG when are u due?? Do U know the gender?? Me: says date and it’s a boy Her: wow Christmas?? That’s sucks, I went my whole pregnancy without knowing the gender because I loved my baby no matter what 🤪🤪......
Please no one ever speak to me again I hate all of you. Except the lovely ladies of the sub and my wonderful boyfriend n baby boy❤️

2020.11.25 22:26 The_Big_Willy [WTS] Come On Down To Big Willy's Whore House!! Coins, Boobies, and More!
As usual, this post was written last night while drunk, I take no responsibility for any spelling or pricing mistakes, but I do try my best. Read at your own risk! Whores!
Yeehaw pardner! Do you reminisce on the days when prostitution was not only a legally gray area but also morally permissible? Do you yearn for a time where a man could unsaddle his horse at the end of a hard day's work, and instead, saddle a lady?
Well boy do I have a deal for you! See the Big Willy Special to find out how you can get your hands on one of my fine ladies! Guaranteed to make you forget all your wordly troubles!
We got big girls, skinny girls, girls you can take home to momma! If you want it, Big Willy's got it!
_____________________________________________________________________________________________ \**The Big Willy Special™**\
This sale's Big Willy Special™
is Brothel Tokens!
That's right, some old exonumia from days long past. Back in the 1800's, you couldn't "legally" pay for sex, so you'd buy one of these tokens instead, and exchange it with one of the workers. Some of these are more worn down than others, so they were no doubt put to good use!
For every three coins you buy, I'll throw in one of these for free! Buy three coins and get a free whore!
Try to find a coin dealer that can beat that
_____________________________________________________________________________________________ The Mac Daddy:
- 1807 Large Stars 50/20 Capped Bust Half Dollar - AU Details - $1250 OBO
- This is one of the great "oops" varieties of the early 1800s. On the reverse, the engraver started punching the denomination into the die, but was drunk and made the mistake of picking up a punch for a 2 instead of a 5. Once the error was noticed, the engraver punched a 5 over the 2, but traces of the 2 remained under the 5. The undertype can be seen even on coins in grades as low as Good. This type of error is rare, and I have only ever seen TWO at auction. I guess Lady Luck was watching over me!
- Now, pricing this was extremely difficult. The most recent auctions I found for this coin was from heritage auctions, and labeled as AU Details. It sold for $1,800. I am not a professional coin grader. The guy who graded it was, but I am not. Could be worth sending in for grading and reselling for a quick $400, but I genuinely don't have time for that shit because I'm impatient as fuck.

2020.11.25 22:18 LabCoat_Commie [Advice] Gender, And The Complications of Change
Hi all, very new here. I originally posted this to /polyamory
and had someone direct me here, and it seems like there's a lot of strong positive advice in this community. tl;dr-
My wife may be genderfluid/nonbinary, I'm firmly cis-het, and our partner is ace-panromantic. I'm concerned about handling their future shifts in identity supportively, potential change in sexual attraction, and looking for any advice or discussion to be as supportive as I can while meeting all of our needs. The long story.
I'm 32/M/het and have been in a relationship with let's call them Bella (33/F?/pan) and Amy (32/F/Ace-panromantic) for a long time. We all met in high school together: Amy and I had been friends forever and I crushed on her a bit but got past it in the name of friendship when it wasn't mutual. She introduced me to Bella and I fell in love at first sight. Bella and I got together shortly after her 17th B-Day party, and two years later when we were off to our college adventures, Bella and Amy formed a relationship which I was aware of. Shortly after, we all decided to try a poly triad relatively equilateral, and it's been a wonderful, beautiful, amazing thing for 11 years or so now. We have a house together, we all have careers, no kids but dogs and cats everywhere, it's some Leave it to Beavers shit. Bella and I tied the knot mainly for government purposes a few years back, but the three of us have considered ourselves equally married to one another since. There was a time we even considered legal divorce and remarry to get the best insurance benefits: the status is mostly paperwork to us.
Bella has always had somewhat masculine alpha-type energy when it comes to her relationships with women, but often played into more sub-beta-take-care-of-me roles with me and her ex-boyfriends, both in and out of the bedroom; she liked the ability to be vers in relationships. We all play TTRPGs, she's always enjoyed playing both male and female characters and has just overall had a lovely and unique versatility and perspective on the gender spectrum.
As time has passed (this hasn't been sudden at all), she has leaned more and more into a non-binary identity. The idea of her growing into who she feels is right and what feels best and makes her happy is of prime concern to me, but I did begin to notice that it occasionally meant presenting masculine sometimes. This is totally cool with me, I love her to death and I'm not going anywhere... but I find myself not attracted to that energy from a sexual perspective
I've described myself before jokingly as "hopelessly cishet". I was born male, I'm a dude, I'm into women, and that's it. I tried to have a bi phase in high school, nothing would have made me happier than to double the dating pool, but I found that as I tried looking into dude porn, the boys just kept getting more and more feminine until I just said "Man... why am I not just looking at chicks?" Simply put, I am not wired to be attracted to men or even agender individuals; ladies are the only ones that do it for me in a relationship.
On that note, in the past year we have opened our triad on occasion to allow for a bit of dating and playing around, and that has worked well. Jealousy issues have been dealt with in a positive way, and we're all happy at seeing each other happy, and we all trust that it's just play and our main three is where it is for life. This admittedly partly occurred because I found myself slightly less sexually attracted to Bella because of her masculine presentation, and because Amy is asexual, so my libido went in funny directions and I was interested in seeking feminine dates outside of just us.
Today, Bella came to me and discussed that she may start addressing herself as they/them and using a gender-neutral nickname, and asked if I'd help her explore the feeling by doing so. I was absolutely thrilled that they felt comfortable enough to come to me and talk to me openly about it, and I'm absolutely thrilled to support them into finding their sense of identity that makes them healthy and happy. They've struggled with depression most of their life, and have had issues surrounding body dysphoria before, but never in such a way that they felt that they were necessarily trans or male. I have two transgender women in my life, one of which is my dear little sister, so I've had a little practice ensuring I respect identities and pronouns and trying to be a supportive ally when it comes to supporting changes in gender identity.
But even with all this happiness for them embracing themselves, I have worries. I'll always love them, and we're married forever. Our relationship isn't in jeopardy, not from my perspective. But... will I be less attracted to Bella? Will I have issues in the bedroom if they aren't presenting "femininely enough" for me? Will our sense of physical contact change if they begin presenting less femininely over time? Will Bella and Amy both understand if I more frequently seek physical intimacy with feminine women for my own happiness? How can I be the most supportive I can be to Bella while still making sure we all have our needs met?
I'm reaching out to see if anyone else has had similar situations in which one of their partners experienced a gender shift and how it impacted their relationship. Or if you've identified differently and what your partners did right to make things better or did poorly that didn't help. Any thoughts or advice on the situation from an outside perspective would be wonderful. I can't fuck this up. I want them to be healthy and happy and open and honest and wonderful, but my inability to sympathize with gender dysphoria I fear causes me work blindly here, and I'm worried about issues arising from the whole thing.
Thanks in advance to anyone reading and offering what they can.

2020.11.25 20:29 Togetherfunn First time, went amazing, didn't perform lol. M25F27
So guys, last weekend we had our first lifestyle experience. Before was had mfm with a close friend, but this couple we met in a kik group and hit it off fairly quickly.
My wife and I main rule was that we all chat in a group. We had chatted for about a month. We met up and did dinner one week with zero expectations of anything. When I say we clicked, we really clicked. My wife and I could not stop talking about how great we all are together even just hanging out.
Now to last weekend. We decided to split a hotel and all get babysitters. There was a great dinner where everyone was extremely active. No bad signals at all that I could tell. After getting back to the hotel, we all hung out and had some fun. After a while, the girls started kissing. Obvious instant turn on. After watching them in aww, they both turned around asking if we were going to join. (Well hell yea I thought lol) the other husband and I undressed and walked over to the bed.
Guess freaking what lol, I couldn't perform. My biggest fear came true. My mind was completely turned on but my little manhood was not responding. Honestly freaked me out. It has never happened. (Backstory, my wife was my first and currently my only so it was more than just stagefright anxiety). I was way to in my head, but I was convinced that this would not take away any enjoyment that was to happen.
The other couple was great, I felt no pressure at all. I know it was frustrating for them but they gained so much respect from me for the way they handled it. My wife also gained a great amount of respect with the way she handled it and didn't pressure at all.
I remained active, they still gave me attention that will forever be stored in my mind lol. All in all I am extremely turned on by watching a woman enjoy something that I am doing with my hands and mouth. I love sex, but I get to actually focus on the woman's reactions when I'm not thinking with my dick lol
We went from action to action, everything flowing great. Both wifes are complete bombshells. During an actual swap portion (even though no piv sex for me) everything felt natural.
We all played for what was about 3 hours with some short breaks in between. I greatly enjoyed my wife and his. I enjoyed watching him handle the girls also. Both of these gals know how to put on a show for the boys and we were loving it. (Keep in mind, no freaking boner still lol)
Towards the end, the husband asked if it is still okay for him to be with my wife. I didn't expect him to ask, but respected that he was thinking that way. We all gave my wife attention as she was enjoying him. The ended up squinting on his wife from him and it caused a great ending and a few giggles. All extremely tired and dry in the mouth lol, we decided to go to bed.
The next morning we woke up, being our first experience my wife and I wanted to make sure we paid attention to eachother the next day. After loving around in the bed she started riding me. We look over at the other bed and the wife is doing the same to her husband. This time I was actually hard lol. It eased my mind knowing that little man is not broke.
Overall for the events that could have prevented anything happening, we could have not asked for a better first experience. It makes us enjoy this couple so much more that they have seen my mentally vulnerable. It makes me look forward to future dates with them.
Btw, my wife and I are going to try out BlueChew and test some out before a next date can occur.
Few general questions for the ones that made it this far. Lol
My wife and I are passionate lovers. Does this scare off some ladies? Or should it just be straight play with not as much passion? (Aka deeply kissing or licking when really into it) I know this is different with each couple, but also each couple shows passion differently.
I am at peace with the stagefright, no drinking before play now and if bluechew helps then great. If this scenario rises again, is focusing so much on giving foreplay to the ladies still looked at as sexy? End goal I want them to enjoy it. And trust me, I get something out of giving a woman tons of attention. But would a woman be fully satisfied by just foreplay type work?
How do yall handle aftercare/reclaiming type of passion with your wife? We have been at it every chance we get since that night lol. But like the next morning it would be fun to share again but it also showed my wife that no matter what, I am back to her fully.
Thanks for reading my chapter book lol

Hi, I’m a teenager and that’s why I’m here. I’m writing to ask one simple question to the women of this subreddit. Ladies, coming from a guy who has absolutely zero dating experience and is a sophomore in high school, I need to know, what the “hints” you guys have? Like most 16 year old dudes, I’m a fairly simple (and stupid) creature, and don’t pay attention to subtle cues, so what should I START looking for?
Sincerely, most of the teenage boys and some teenage girls in this sub

2020.11.24 22:31 Kal-El-SUPERMAN Top 10 GIANT Discoveries in North America
by Hugh Newman
and Jim Vieira January 18, 2016 from AncientOrigins Website
| ||Jim Vieira and Hugh Newman have been working together investigating Native American stone and earthen constructions, Native oral history and the giant skeletons of North America for nearly ten years. They starred together on the History Channel TV show Search for the Lost Giants (2014) and have recently co-authored Giants On Record: America's Hidden History, Secrets in the Mounds and the Smithsonian Files (2015). Jim and his brother Bill also starred on the recently aired History Channel special Roanoke: Search for the Lost Colony (2015). Jim is a stonemason and lives in Ashfield, Massachusetts. Hugh is an explorer, antiquarian and author of Earth Grids: The Secret Patterns of Gaia's Sacred Sites (Wooden Books 2008). He has several articles published on Ancient Origins website and has been a regular guest on History Channel's Ancient Aliens. He lives in Glastonbury, England. His websites are www.megalithomania.co.uk and www.hughnewman.co.uk || |
| || || |
| ||The Iroquois, the Osage, the Tuscaroras, the Hurons, the Omahas, and many other North American Indians all speak of giant men who once lived and roamed in the territories of their forefathers. All over what is now the U.S. are traditions of these ancient giants. 1 || |
| || || |
Over 1000 accounts of seven-foot and taller skeletons have reportedly been unearthed from ancient burial sites over a two-hundred-year period in North America.
Newspaper accounts, town and county histories, letters, scientific journals, diaries, photos and Smithsonian ethnology reports have carefully documented this.
These skeletons have been reported from coast to coast with strange anatomic anomalies such as double rows of teeth, jawbones so large as to be fit over the face of the finder, and elongated skulls, documented in virtually every state.
Figure 1: Map of giant reports in North America. Created by Cee Hall.
Smithsonian scientists identified at least 17 skeletons that stood at over seven feet in their annual reports, including one example that was 8 feet tall, and a skull with a 36-inch circumference reported from Anna, Illinois in the Smithsonian Annual Report of 1873, (an average human skull is about 20 inches in circumference).
The Smithsonian Institution is mentioned dozens more times as the recipient of enormous skeletons from across the entire United States.
The skeletons mentioned no longer seem to exist regardless of their actual size, and the remaining ones that were on display were removed and repatriated by NAGPRA
(Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act).
While the authors certainly support this law, it does present a moral and ethical conundrum in terms of trying to ascertain the proof everyone wants to see - physical evidence of giants.
Figure 2: Selection of news accounts featured in the book
In this unique Top Ten
, we look at some examples of giant skeletons that were reported from across ancient North America (although we warn you now that Number 1 is so large, we admit it may not be authentic
). Our countdown begins at one of the most important mound sites in America, and quite possibly the world.

TOP TEN GIANTS
- Serpent Mound, Ohio, 1890s - 7 ft tall skeleton
Serpent Mound survey by Squire and Davis.
The Great Serpent Mound is a 1,370ft long prehistoric effigy mound located near Peebles that has been thoroughly researched by Ross Hamilton
, who has written extensively about its mysteries and the giants discovered in the area.
Recent radiocarbon analysis dates it to around 321 BC. This puts it in the realm of the Adena civilization who were present in the area at this time.
In the 1890s, Professor Frederic Ward Putnam
excavated some of the mounds next to Serpent Mound and found only 6ft tall skeletons, but a postcard showing one 7 feet in height was recently rediscovered by researcher Jeffrey Wilson
It may have been one of those excavated by Putnam, as he was the only person to dig at the site.
Ross first published this in his book A Tradition of Giants
, and it clearly states it was from Serpent Mound
on the postcard, but there is still debate as to where this photo of a 7ft skeleton was actually taken.
Notice that the legs are cut off at the knees, so is "7ft" what we actually see, or is it an estimation if he had his lower legs and feet attached? Could it have been more like 8 feet tall if the shins and feet were intact?

- Cresap Mound, West Virginia, 1959 - 7ft 2in skeleton In 1959, Dr. Donald Dragoo, the curator for the Section of Man at the Carnegie Museum unearthed a 7 feet 2 inch skeleton during the complete excavation of the Cresap Mound in Northern West Virginia:
"This individual was of large proportions. When measured in the tomb his length was approximately 7.04 feet. All of the long bones were heavy."

Dragoo published a photo of the actual skeleton in his book so there is no doubt it was authentic.
Dragoo joins many other university-trained anthropologists and archaeologists who reported discovering skeletons over seven feet in length in burial mounds, often with anatomical anomalies.
A few of the professionals reporting these skeletal finds were,
- Dr. Walter B. Jones, Moundsville Alabama (7ft 6 and many 7-footers)
- Dr. Forrest Clements Head of Anthropology at the University of Oklahoma (six 7ft skeletons)
- Dr. Donald A. Cadzow Cambridge University (7ft 5in skeleton found in Pittsburgh with many other
- large skeletons with anatomic anomalies reported)
- Dr. Byron Cummings, head of the archaeology department at the University of Arizona, considered the " Dean of Southwestern Archaeology" (several over 8-footers)
- Thomas Wilson, Curator of Prehistoric Anthropology at the Smithsonian (verified an 8-foot skeleton with massive jawbone)
- W.J. Holland, curator of the Carnegie Museum (unearthed an over 8 ft skeleton in Pennsylvania as reported in many scientific journals including Scientific American )
8. Mounds in Iowa, 1897 - 7ft 6in skeleton
This account from The Worthington Advance
(November 18, 1897) describes the ethnological work of the Smithsonian Institution's Division of Eastern Mounds, and quoted the Director of the Bureau of Ethnology at the time, John Wesley Powell
The image below accompanied the news report.
"It is a matter of official record that in digging through a mound in Iowa the scientists found the skeleton of a giant, who, judging from actual measurement, must have stood seven feet six inches tall when alive.
The bones crumbled to dust when exposed to the air."

- Steelville, Missouri, 1933 - 8ft skeleton As part of the Search for the Lost Giants show, Jim and fellow researcher James Clary investigated the following account that had this heading:
"An Ancient Ozark Giant Dug Up Near Steelville: Strange discovery made by a boy looking for arrowheads, gives this Missouri Town an absorbing mystery to ponder."
From The Steelville Ledger
(June 11, 1933):
"…he turned up the complete skeleton of an 8 foot giant.
The grisly find was brought to Dr. R. C. Parker here and stretched out to its enormous length in a hallway of his office where it has since remained the most startling exhibit Steelville has ever had on public view."
While reading through the microfilm at the Steelville library three reports of the find where uncovered including the photo that shows Les Eaton, a 6-foot man, laid out next to the 8-foot skeleton in Dr. Parkers office.

The Steelville Ledger reported that the skeleton was packed up and shipped to the Smithsonian, never to be heard of again.
6. Miamisburg, Montgomery County, Ohio - 8ft 1.5 inch skeleton
Miamisburg Mound is believed to have been built by the Adena Culture
, anywhere between 1000 to 200 BC.
It is the largest conical burial mound in Ohio, once nearly 70 feet tall (the height of a seven-story building) and 877 feet in circumference. Hugh investigated this site in September 2012 and after talking to some researchers at the local historical society, he found there were other skeletal remains reported in the nearby area.
Old illustration of Miamisburg Mound.
Numerous skeletal remains were uncovered from the mound, including a giant jawbone and " bones of unusual size," but it was the discovery half-a-mile away that became a national sensation and was reported in The Middletown Signal
, January 17, 1899 with the headline: "Bones of Prehistoric Giant Found Near Miamisburg":
"The skeleton of a giant found near Miamisburg is the cause of much discussion not only among the curious and illiterate but among the learned scientists of the world.
The body of a man more gigantic than any ever recorded in human history, has been found in the Miami Valley, in Ohio. The skeleton it is calculated must have belonged to a man 8 feet 1.5 inches in height."
Professor Thomas Wilson
curator of prehistoric anthropology at the Smithsonian Institution, said the following after examining the find:
"The authenticity of the skull is beyond any doubt.
Its antiquity unquestionably great, to my own personal knowledge several such crania were discovered in the Hopewell group of mounds in Ohio. The jaws were prognathus (projecting beyond the face) and the facial index remarkably low."

5. The San Diego Giant, 1895 - 8ft 4 inch mummy
This fascinating discovery reports on a giant mummy found in San Diego (that is currently believed to be a hoax).
However, let's take a closer look, as there is some intrigue and inconsistency with this popular story. This first report appeared in 1895 with the sub-headings "Nine Feet High and Probably a California Indian - Measurement Well Authenticated - Other Big Men and Women of Fact and Fable Who Are Famous Types if Gigantism."
When accurately measured it turned out to be 8ft 4 inches and was,
"carefully inspected and measured by Prof. Thomas Wilson, Curator of the Department of Prehistoric Anthropology in the Smithsonian Institution, and by other scientists."
The San Diego giant was purchased by the Smithsonian for $500 (over $14,000 in today's money) in 1895, although they later claimed it was a hoax.
Thirteen years later - in 1908 - when the mummy was being exhibited, the Smithsonian ran some tests and suddenly dismissed it as a hoax, saying it was made from "gelatin."
The fact that it took that long, and after spending $500 to acquire it, plus the fact that it was "carefully inspected" by experts thirteen years earlier does suggest there may be more to this story than meets the eye.
Interestingly, Aleš Hrdlička
, joined the Smithsonian in 1903, right in between the discovery and the final debunking. He was not interested in giants and made a concerted effort to eradicate them from the historical record.
It is also interesting to note that the Director of Prehistoric Anthropology, Thomas Wilson
, and the ethnologist in charge W.J. McGee
, were both involved in this story, and were obviously keen to make sure the Smithsonian got it back to their headquarters at an immense cost ($500 in 1895 equates to $14,285 today).
But why would they bother doing that if it was simply a sideshow hoax?
The strange twists, and Smithsonian involvement, and the immense amount of money spent on this makes this worthy of inclusion in this Top Ten.
A similar mummified giant also turned up at Spiro Mounds
, Oklahoma. It measured 8ft 5 in and was on display for a few months, where it was seen by several people before it disappeared
4. Catalina Island, California - 9 ft 2 inch skeleton (and other 7ft - 8ft examples)
The Channel Islands off the coast of California
have turned up numerous oversized skeletons.
The story is intriguing and controversial, and it stars amateur archaeologist Ralph Glidden
and his bizarre museum, but before the main act, a German naturalist got the story going in 1913.
Dr. A.W. Furstenan
reported unearthing an 8 ft tall skeleton with artifacts such as mortar, pestles and arrowheads on Catalina. He was told of a legend while in Mexico of a giant and noble race that lived on the Island, who existed long before the white man and had since vanished. 5
Amateur archaeologist Ralph Glidden unearthed and collected a total of 3,781 skeletons on the Channel Islands between 1919 and 1930.
Working for the Heye Foundation
of New York he unearthed a 9ft 2 in skeleton and several measuring over 7 feet:
"A skeleton of a young girl, evidently of high rank, within a large funeral urn, was surrounded by those of sixty-four children, and in various parts of the island more than three thousand other skeletons were found, practically all the males averaging around seven feet in height, one being seven feet eight inches from the top of his head to the ankle, and another being 9 feet 2 inches tall."
The skeleton in the picture is 7ft 8 in example.
As part of Search for the Lost Giants
, Jim and Bill Vieira visited Catalina to investigate the contents of the box, and indeed there were photos of hundreds of skeletons and skulls, excavations, artifacts, and burials.
They also uncovered an account of a 28-inch femur unearthed by Glidden on San Nicolas Island reported by the judge of Avalon, Earnest Windle
This would make the skeleton over 8 feet tall.
An over 7-foot skeleton found on Catalina Island.
3. Beaver Lake, Ozark Caves, Arkansas, 1913 - Nearly 10 ft skeleton and huge skulls
This account from an Ozark cave in Arkansas is found in The New Age Magazine
(Volume 18, 1913) given by the highly regarded reporter Victor Schoffelmeyer
Skulls of giants with cranial deformation.
During the filming of Search for the Lost Giants
, the site of the cave was investigated.
It had been flooded with the damming and creation of Beaver Lake between 1960-1966. Bill Vieira
and professional scuba diver Mike Young
dived into the lake and found a huge shelter cave believed to be the site of the skeletal finds.
While a 70ft stone wall was found at the entrance of the cave, showing likely human habitation, no more clues were forthcoming.
Text from the original article reads as follows:
"While the historical features of the Ozarks held our attention, by far the most fascinating discovery was one made by an aged recluse and naturalist who for ten years had lived in a shelter cave near where we camped.
'Dad' Riggins spent much of his time digging in the ashes which form the floor of many of these caves.
At a depth of more than three feet he found the remains of several giant human skeletons, including an almost perfect skull which differed in many particulars from a modern specimen. When partly joined the largest skeleton was almost ten feet tall.
'Dad' Riggins showed us hieroglyphics covering the Palisades thought to be thousands of years old."
2. Lompock Rancho, California, 1819 - 12 ft skeleton
Hugh investigated this famous report back in November 2008, by visiting the area of the ranch it was discovered on.
"In 1819 an old lady saw a gigantic skeleton dug up by soldiers at Purisima on the Lompock Rancho. The natives deemed it a god, and it was reburied by direction of the padre." 8
This short report re-emerged with a broader range of details in 1833 and now various authors and websites repeat the same story.
It goes something like this:
Soldiers digging a pit for a powder magazine at Lompock Rancho, California, hacked their way through a layer of cemented gravel and found a 12ft sarcophagus.
The skeleton of a giant man about twelve feet tall was found inside. The grave was surrounded by carved shells, huge stone axes, two spears and thin sheets of porphyry (purple mineral with quartz) covering the skeleton.
These were covered with unintelligible symbols. He had a double row of teeth, both upper and lower.
The soldiers consulted a local tribe of Indians, who after going into trance, exclaimed they were geographically displaced Allegewi Indians from the Ohio Valley area.
When the natives began to attach some religious significance to the find, authorities ordered the skeleton and all the artifacts secretly reburied.
No further information is available so it is impossible to verify this information, but numerous other skeletons of this height have been reported in such newspapers at The New York Times.
Two further 12ft examples were reported in Jeffersonville, Kentucky ( The New York Times, May 22, 1871) and Barnard, Missouri ( The Providence Evening Press, September 13, 1883).
Furthermore, a 13ft example was said to have been unearthed in Janesville, Wisconsin (The Public Ledger, August 25, 1870) and even bones that were estimated to be from a skeleton 14ft tall at Etowah Mounds (The New York Times, April 5, 1886).
These are all well out of the normal range for humans but are worth noting here as these immense sizes pop up again and again in well-respected newspapers.
1. West Hickory, Pennsylvania, 1870 - 18ft skeleton
The headline of this chart-topper reads: "The Cardiff Giant Outdone: Alleged Discovery of a Giant in The Oil Regions."
This report originally came from the Oil City Times
in 1870 and underneath the immense armor, it revealed some startling anatomic oddities, and a skeleton that reached a staggering height (the tallest example we have come across):
"They exhumed an enormous helmet of iron, which was corroded with rust. Further digging brought to light a sword which measured nine feet in length."
The report continued that they had discovered:
"…a well-preserved skeleton of an enormous giant… The bones of the skeleton are remarkably white. The teeth are all in their places, and all of them are double, and of extraordinary size."
It was estimated to be 18 feet tall, and the bones were being prepared to be sent to New York. Clearly, however, this could be an exaggeration, as 18ft is unheard of in the historical record, but the matter-of-fact description is intriguing.
Interestingly the discovery was reported to be buried 12 feet below a mound, so it could suggest a deep antiquity, however tall he was.
The report from 1870 describing an 18-feet-tall giant skeleton.
We hope this tiny selection of accounts leaves one realizing there may be some truth to these reports (although numbers 9 and 10 cannot be verified, and they are well beyond the established scope of human height).
We do not believe they are all authentic, but what you have read here constitutes only 1% of what we have in our archive. We include 250 of these accounts in our book 'Giants On Record: America's Hidden History, Secrets in the Mounds and the Smithsonian Files
The genesis of the North American giants is shrouded in mystery, but we believe that they were involved in the sophisticated Mound Building cultures of the Mid-West, as royal tombs with reported enormous skeletons were often found within them.
There are many Native legends that place them in the era of the Megafauna (mammoths, mastodons, sabre-tooth tigers etc.) at around 13,000 years ago. There are dozens of oral histories that revere them as gods, and sometimes as fearsome cannibalistic warriors.
Great wars were said to have taken place between these titans, and prehistoric battlefields with oversized bones and weapons were frequently reported by early colonial farmers.
Eyewitness accounts of live giant giants were reported by English and Spanish explorers and even some of the early presidents.
Mystics such as,
- Edgar Cayce
- Rudolph Steiner
- Madame Blavatsky,
...as well as the Rosicrucians and Freemasons all regarded giants as a reality.
The origins of the North American giants are hotly debated by independent researchers, academics and skeptics, but there is now enough data to begin serious research into the subject.
We cover all the theories of their origins in our new book, ranging from the Denisovans
of Siberia to the Nephilim
of the Bible Lands.
There is also compelling evidence that the giants may have originated within the Americas. Hundreds of Native American creation myths
and oral histories attest to this, with the giants being mentioned in the stories from remote times.
One example can be found in the writings of Tuscarora Indian David Cusick
in his book 'Sketches of Ancient History of the Six Nations
' (1825). He states that when the Great Spirit made the people, some of them became giants.
However, most people don't believe in giants, but rather scoff at the idea, saying it's all just folklore that got mixed up and sensationalized by newspaper journalists.
We disagree, as there is ample evidence
Native American mythology
- genetic data
- ethnological studies
- scientific reports
- early excavation records
- first-hand accounts
- discoveries featured in newspapers and town history books,
...to suggest otherwise.
Now is the time for academia to take a look at this data, and to investigate what really happened at the Smithsonian, as an important chapter in human history is on the verge of being lost forever. References

2020.11.24 18:57 comeonson-_- I need help getting over the jitters of giving my first blowjob
Okay so I've (18F) been dating this boy (18M) for a couple of months now. I've dated guys before, but all of the relationships have been awful. However, this relationship has been phenomenal. Like I genuinely love this man. He is soooo kind and caring. We've been having sex for a while but I haven't been able to get myself to go down on him yet. When I'm not around him and I think about doing it, I'm totally ready for it. I think to myself 'yeah what's the big deal? I totally wanna do this for him'. And then the moment comes when we're making out and I just find some excuse to not do it. And obviously both of us have talked through this and he's been super kind and patient and considerate of my feelings and is perfectly fine with taking it slow. However, he's only visiting home right now and in about a week we're going back to being a long distance relationship and I don't wanna go back to that without having done this. I honestly don't know what part of it I'm having an issue with, and I feel like if I knew what it was I could address it and then be good to go. I texted him this morning that I want to try: 1) doing it at my house, 2) having music on so that my brain has something to focus on other than overthinking, 3) having him help me get in the mood via foreplay, and 4) having him give me some verbal encouragement in the moment.
I guess what I'm asking for, ladies, is if you guys have any other advice. Also, how was your first time? Was it just as scary? How did you get over that?
I know that I don't need to feel pressured into doing this if I'm not ready, but I genuinely don't think thats the issue. This is something that the man that I love really wants, and I really want to give it to him. Which is another reason why I don't know why I haven't been able to do it yet.

2020.11.24 18:29 bhictoria Self Love Question!
Hey ladies! I'm new here and really love this account so far :) To give you a bit of some background info; I'm a 21-year-old female who is finally realizing that I need to heal, stop putting men on pedestals and looking to them for love and self-worth (especially gross college boys who are the last people I should be looking to feel good about who I am), and to find my own sense of self.
I am currently going to therapy to address my wounds, but I am struggling with self-love a lot. Every time I try to give myself a compliment or notice a good trait about myself, my brain comes up with a million reasons as to why it's not true. I also have a lot of shame around most of my life being revolved about being a man's "dream girl", looking for attention from men, and not feeling worthy of something unless a man has noticed it, like I'm some sort of self-centered vain person. It doesn't help that I always have been pretty good looking (not to be vain) as I used this to get love, along with dating men who always made me feel like a bad or crazy person for establishing any kind of boundaries or being the confident person I am deep down underneath the trauma. I absolutely do NOT want to be a pick me-isha anymore (lol) and I am 100% going to bring up all of this to my therapist! but in the meantime I was wondering if any of you wonderful women had any tips or insights to help me gain self-worth and self-love so I can stop this crazy addiction to men's validation and feeling like I'm the bad one or there is something wrong with me. I know you guys cant give professional advice, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask women who know their worth think.

2020.11.24 15:21 DJSwaleswritesbooks PARIS: HOW I ESCAPED THE CLUTCHES OF A DARK CURSE IN THE CITY OF THE CATACOMBS
I don’t often talk about why I left Paris last year, but my mind won’t leave it alone. Memories of my neighbour, Madame Blankenfelde, jolt me with the realization that there are
things out there that want to hurt us. To hunt
us. By things
, I should be clear . . . I mean entities
of this earth, but not formed of flesh and blood. This last quality is perhaps why they covet us.
I had left Dublin for Paris as a struggling poet – following in the footsteps of James Joyce and many Irish writers and poets who had their “Paris phase”. I even journeyed to the City of Light in the same manner of those luminaries – by boat and train. No low cost airlines for me! There has to be some hardship,
I thought, I mean, I’m not escaping the mass deaths of the Irish famine, nor grinding colonial oppression.
Nope, I had merely been performatively dumped by my girlfriend during a slam poetry evening. Our explosive argument practically shut down the event. I was so embarrassed – another reason to leave Dublin. It didn’t help our chances that my poetry had received twice as many votes as her own.
On top of being dumped, the gourmet burger company I slaved for, near Trinity College, fired me without explanation. I later heard from Niamh, a co-worker from Donegal, that my beardless face, ginger curls, and generous Guinness
waistline just weren’t “hipster enough”.
“Hipster enough?” I cried. “For fuck’s sake I’m literally
a starving poet!”
I can still feel the relief as I finally stood outside the sadly yet gracefully decaying Residence Rimbaud
mansion block on that sweltering August day, after picking my way through the dog turds that peppered the pavement. Graffiti covered the length of the building as high as hands could reach. Being August, Paris was half empty, but the air was still thick with weed. At the base of the building were large incongruous foundation stones, the sad remains of a medieval abbey that now made up the building's basement, and apparently had a secret tunnel leading into the bone-filled catacombs. Five hundred years of dog piss had stained the noble stones like an abstract painting.
Behind me, a metro train roared out of the iron lattice of the raised Barbès – Rochechouart Metro station. I squinted at the hideous carvings in the honey coloured stone – gargoyle faces and macabre twisting vines and wilting flowers. They surrounded every door and window of Residence Rimbaud.
I think I sweated three bottles of Evian just lugging my huge suitcase up the first four flights of stairs. I remember pausing and leaning into the stairwell, trying to figure out the origin of some arabesque music that echoed around me as it very often would on the streets of what is now a very Tunisian and Algerian neighbourhood. Within walking distance were the picturesque hilly cobbles of Montmartre, made famous to some by the movies Amélie
and Moulin Rouge
, and known to others as the haunt of Monet, Renoir, Van Gogh, and Picasso. Monetmartre was where I’d really wanted to live, but the rents were higher than the dome of Sacre Coeur, the neighbourhood’s crowning glory. Shit!
I jumped. A frail, thin little lady, hair the colour of snow, was watching me, emotionless, from the top of the stairs. I laughed at the absurdity of it, grabbed my suitcase and, out of nowhere, she was suddenly next to me. “Oh, excuse me,” I said. “I hope I’m not in your way.”
She looked into my eyes, crossed herself like a good Irish Catholic, then muttered something inscrutable as she melted down the stairs. That was weird
, I thought. But I got used to it. That was my first experience of my decidedly eccentric neighbour Madame Blankenfelde.
A month after I moved in, I recorded Madame Blankenfelde’s routine passing phrase and posted it among my usual Instagram poetry stories. One of my followers is Latvian and she told me the words “var ļaunums palikt prom no jūsu durvīm”
mean, “may you keep evil from your door”
For my first few months in Paris I just wandered the streets by day, writing spontaneous poems and eating too many pastries. My Instagram profile and various blogs gradually attracted a meagre following of insomniacs, weirdos, and two potential stalkers. By night I pulled pints in The Foggy Dew
, one of the hundred Irish pubs in Paris, but the only one that can lay claim to have been the haunt of Oscar Wilde, after he left England a broken man. It was hidden down an alleyway in the medieval district of Le Marais
, next to a tiny gay bar, an old synagogue, and opposite a snooty interior design store where you had to ring the bell for entry. Bram Stoker was also said to have drunk in The Foggy Dew, after visiting the city’s skull-filled subterranean catacombs.
After work I’d lay in bed, listening to Gothic podcasts and working on my journal. I was researching the history of the Irish in France. Aside from when Irish famine refugees were ordered to stay outside the port city walls at night, the Irish had a glorious history in the country.
“There were Irish regiments in the French army,” I once explained to Patrice, one of the heaviest regular drinkers at The Foggy Dew. “They fought for France, but also to free Ireland from the British,” I explained. “It was actually an Irish General – MacMahon – that liberated Paris from the Prussians and the horrors of the Commune.”
“Ah!” said Patrice, “When the citizens turned on each other in every twisted savagery. Cannibalism! Madame Guillotine! Unspeakable acts! Not even babies were sacred. Bah!
All so some fucker could write a musical called Les Miserable!
Moments later I was on my knees in front of Patrice, mopping up his vomit. It was then that I looked up and saw a small face in the window. Madame Blankenfelde!
I dashed outside, my brow lined with confusion. She was shaking. “Are you cold?” I asked, but it was a warm night. Her face looked haunted. It was fear. Terror!
“Please!” she said, urgently pressing a thick envelope into my palm, conjuring the saddest weak smile. A few seconds later and I watched her speed away in her waiting taxi.
When I emptied the envelope behind the bar I found her keys, two hundred Euros and a small note, all in CAPS, saying:
HELLO RYAN. I MUST GO LATVIA. GRAND PROBLEMES FAMILY. PLEASE FEED CLEAN DRINK CAT KAKIS. MONEY. ONE WEEK KAKIS GOOD CAT. PLEASE PRAY ME GOD. MERCI – KATARINA
I showed the note to Patrice.
“Pull some fish out of the river, feed them to the cat, and pocket the money!” he advised. His breath still stank of vomit and I pulled away, lost in thought but now tasting my own bile at the back of my throat.
Three days into cat-sitting Kakis, I saw Mustafa, the janitor of the building, a broad and towering sixty-something mustachioed Algerian. He was mopping the tiles of the reception area, where a full time attendant once sat in better days. The wood of the desk was worn and scratched. On its warped surface a few thumb-eared tourist brochures had been abandoned by departing Airbnb guests. A large chandelier, missing most of its crystals, hung precariously on a cable that stretched up the full seven storeys of the building’s stairwell.
Mustafa spoke five languages if you included his spattering of English. He paced nervously on the spot, in open-toed sandals, as he explained that Madame Blankenfelde had been a housekeeper for a wealthy family in the 16th arrondissement for thirty years. This was only the third time she had returned to Latvia, the other times being the deaths of her mother and father. Thirty years?
I thought. How can that be, her flat is less than spartan. She has virtually no belongings.
I didn’t mention the dozen crucifixes nailed to every wall and bibles laid around the edge of the floors in both rooms. The only faded black and white photo in the place was pinned above her bed. The faces of two adults were scratched away. I figured they were her parents, with the girl nestled between them being Madame Blankenfelde. All three of them stood in front of a thick wooden door, from the top of which three small symbols dangled from ribbons. One looked a little like a Swastika, while another was a triangle. Others looked a little more complex, but all angular.
“She no like go home,” pot-bellied Mustafa said, shaking his head ruefully. His fingers sought the chain around his neck, hidden under the I LOVE DUBLIN
t-shirt I had passed on to him after putting on too much weight. The chain was taut on his thick neck as he pulled out a golden holy Hand of Fatima, rubbing it between his fingers as he spoke. I recognised the talisman immediately– said to protect Muslims from evil. I’d seen them sold at markets near the beach in El Gouna, Egypt. “You want?” asked Mustafa, seeing my interest in the object.
“No, no, just admiring,” I said, and trudged upstairs swinging a bag of cat food tins. I stopped in mid-step and swivelled to call down one last question: “Where is her husband? Latvia?”
Mustafa shook his head and, without looking up, said: “Bad thing happen, many
bad thing.” A vintage telephone blared from a side room. He stalked away to answer it.
On the sixth night, I checked on Kakis after returning from work. It was 2 a.m. As usual, the affectionate Kakis was at the door with the first scrape in the lock. It wrapped itself around my legs and then tailed close to my ankles as I stepped over the creaking floor. I smiled to see the blue silver-haired feline attentively watching the world from the window ledge, in a gap between several small bottles of Lourdes holy water. In fact I was wishing I had a few more days of me and my new buddy.
My eyes blinked in the dark. It was 4 a.m. Urggh, less than two hours of sleep,
thought. I heard footsteps through the wall next to my head. Madame Blankenfelde is back?
No sooner had I thought the words than the footsteps grew louder. They seemed to stop right next to me, just through the wall. I’m not sure how long it took me to drift off again, but I didn’t hear another step.
I had a pounding headache all day at work and left early. Constance stood in for me, a hazel-eyed, half-Irish girl from Bordeaux with a “thing” for poets and writers. She had legs up to her neck and one eyebrow forever raised in a state of circumspection. On my first day at work she became my unrequited crush the instant I walked through the door. Her laughter, her words of easy temper and swift forgiveness were all delivered through lips that rich people might suffer a thousand injections to mimic. Just being close to Constance’s forever sun-kissed skin and long shiny hair – like dark satin – made each shared shift a joy. But, conversely, her absence made the achingly boring hours of pulling pints and lugging barrels a grind. Either way, I needed the money.
Constance’s family had a fancy vineyard in Pomerol, but she wanted to be a wild child in Paris for a few years – and she liked Irish men. I wasn’t complaining, we’d made out drunkenly a few times after locking up. But the mind-blowing kisses always ended with her confessing I wasn’t really her type. “But I love your accent,” she’d say as if it was compensation for not getting any further with her.
As I fumbled with my key at the front door of Rimbaud Residences I heard a car door slam behind me. I turned to find Madame Blankenfelde paying her taxi driver, her luggage at her feet. What the hell?
“Bonjour Madame,” I greeted her as she stepped forward. I was ashamed that my French was still utterly useless, cursing myself for working in a bar where people either spoke English or wanted to.
“Bonjour Ryan,” she responded, allowing me to pull her small suitcase. In her weariness the words hardly escaped her lips. Not only was her hair somehow whiter, but the blood seemed gone from her face, her eyes almost lifeless. Her skin was like a walnut, with deep furrows across her forehead.
I would not have thought it possible but Madame Blankenfelde’s face turned even more ashen in the hallway, as Mustafa translated what I’d heard the night before. Her hands dropped to her sides, with a look of defeat.
“Deaux minutes,” said Mustafa and gently pulled her to the side, where they exchanged whispers. Feeling awkward, like I was intruding, I bade them goodbye and hauled myself upstairs. The headache roared back, threatening to split my skull. As I passed Madame Blankenfelde’s flat I saw the line of light under her door. I thought I saw a shadow . . . something bigger than Kakis. For a second I was rooted to the spot, but heard Mustafa guiding my returned neighbour up the stairs. I’m sure it’s nothing,
I thought. If there’s anything odd Mustafa will take care of it.
The next day, at exactly 11.11 a.m. I was awakened by sparrows chirping on my sunny window ledge. The headache had gone and I had a text from Constance saying: I’m coming over at 11.30. I’m bringing food.
“Suddenly everything is right with the world!” I said aloud, burying myself in my duvet and wondering if I had time for a shower or just a wet wipe “whore bath” as my sister called it. Will she want to play nurse?
“The door’s open!” I shouted when I heard the knock. After buzzing Constance in I leapt back into bed after drawing the curtain to cast myself in a more flattering glow.
“You have a gift?” asked Constance, as her smile filled my pokey two room flat.
“Someone left you something.” After leaving a shopping bag on the floor she twisted and plucked a small bag off the door handle. “Here”
“Oh, maybe it’s from Madame Blankenfelde, my neighbour.” I stretched my hand towards her.
“Ooh la la, an admirer? Am I interrupting a romance,” Constance said, pushing my hand aside, walking over the discarded wet wipes, and throwing herself onto the bed.
She felt so warm. I buried my nose in her long brown hair and kissed down to her neck. Her clothes peeled away. My hands, arms and legs enveloped her as she surrounded me. She smelled like mangoes and papayas. This is the Parisian dream, I thought, forgetting about the little bag.
That evening we were on the bullet train to Bordeaux. The new high speed line had just opened, her parents were away in Martinique, and we’d have the farmhouse to ourselves for five days. As the train whistled through the night I finally opened the bag in the cabin’s ghostly white light.
“They are so creepy,” said Constance, holding the carved wooden geometric symbols close to her face. She had just read me the note that accompanied them:
RYAN. THANK YOU PLEASE. ONE IN WINDOW. ONE DOOR. ONE POCKET. VERY IMPORTANT
**. FROM LATVIA.** – KATARINA
“Ah, yes. I saw these in that old photo in Madame Blankenfelde’s flat.” I knew there was something familiar about them.
For the next twenty minutes Constance searched through webpage after webpage, reading me her findings. The symbols were from Latvian folklore, dating back to Pagan times and an ancient tribe called the Latgallians. They were and still are used to ward away evil and attract blessings.
When we pulled into Bordeaux, Juliet was waiting for us. I’d met her a few times in Paris at The Foggy Dew, learning in the process that she was nowhere near as accomplished a kisser as Constance. Juliet had been the main influence for Constance moving to Paris, then bottled out when she was supposed to join her. The matter was a sensitive subject once enough booze had been consumed.
Juliet leapt out of an old beat-up Citroën CX Familiale
like a scalded cat. She flew across the ground, her stick-thin legs a blur of bright orange leggings. A huge baggy black turtle-neck sweater appeared to give her open arms wings. It was moth-eaten and looked like it had belonged to her father. “Your chauffeur awaits!” Juliet said, flinging her slight body into Constance’s arms and wrapping her legs around her.
Even with more changes of style than a chameleon, Juliet always looked striking. Her elven face greeted us that night with dark Gothic eyeliner, black lipstick and deathly white foundation. Her Elvira Queen of the Night
look was framed by severe straight bangs and an angular bob – at its longest in front of ears, which were studded with a junk yard of metal.
Juliet pulled open the car door for us, bowing theatrically. I saw her long and perfectly manicured nails, painted with black varnish and couldn’t help imagining them scratching down my back.
The car had three rows of seats – one each! I lay back for several minutes then folded my arms around Constance from behind. The wheels screeched as we careened down roads flanked by endless lines of vines.
“Pomerol, directement!" demanded Constance, laughing.
“Of course my lady,” answered Juliet from the driver's seat, like an English aristocrat. Her black eyes glanced in the rear view mirror more than she looked at the road, joining Constance in constant laughter and machine-gun French. I hardly understood a word and I didn’t care. I could have spent a lifetime listening to Constance.
The first night the alarm at Constance’s family’s rambling stone manor house went off several times while we slept, scaring the shit out of us, but it was kind of fun as we searched from room to room for any interlopers – clinging to each other.
On the second night Constance was unsettled by shadow standing in the corner of the bathroom. “It didn’t disappear in the light!” she said, after racing back to my open arms in the warm bed.
“Of course your mind is going to see weird things in a five hundred year old chateau, miles from anywhere,” I said. “But you’ve got me now.” If anything the unexplained shared experience just brought us closer.
On the third night we put up the Latvian talismans in our bedroom window. We were undisturbed the rest of our trip.
Constance and I parted ways at Montparnasse station, exhausted, happy, blissful. With my tired eyes I glanced back at her as she climbed into her Uber. She waved from the window as it pulled away, warming my romantic heart. I’m such a love fool
, I thought, as my heart panged at her absence. With that, I descended into the hot air of the Metro.
Back in Residences Rimbaud, I passed Madame Blankenfelde’s door.
I saw movement in the weak bar of light at its base. It swiftly went black, blotted out like night had fallen beyond the door. Hmm, Kakis must have laid down there
, I thought, hearing scratches from the base of the door. The poor moggy misses me
, I thought, aiming to knock on the door in the morning.
Unpacking my backpack I found the small bag and the wooden symbols. I read Madame Blankenfelde’s note again then did exactly as she had asked. Why was I so suddenly compliant? I don’t know. Something made
me do it. A compulsion perhaps, or some primal previously untriggered instinct. I placed one talisman on the window, one on the door hook, and the last one in my pocket. BANG!
There was a huge thud against my wall.
“Shit!” I jumped out of my skin. I felt a cold surge of adrenaline. Ponderous footsteps, close to the wall, faded as they walked away. “You’ve got to be kidding me,” I whispered as I heard them quicken and return. Another huge thud! The room shook, like a car had slammed into the wall. Goosebumps bristled over my skin. Cold air pressed in around me.
“Fuck it,” I said. I quickly headed to the door and into the corridor.
“Not another bloody note?” I stooped to pick up the torn paper outside Madame Blankenfelde’s door and heard the key scrape in her lock.
WELCOME BACK RYAN. PLEASE CAN YOU HELP ME? IT’S THE CAT. SHE HASN'T EATEN FOR DAYS. MAYBE SHE MISSES YOU.
What the hell?
I thought. Did she read my mind? And now she knows how to use apostrophes in English?
The double lock scraped again. The handle turned. An inch gap opened, revealing a strange absence of light. Sunset is hours away
, I thought. “Hello? Bonjour? Madame Blankenfelde?” I asked, without answer. Where is Kakis?
I thought. His expectant eyes and curious face usually tested the thinnest gap between the door and frame. I sensed something was wrong.
I waited, listening. There was no sound. Even the Metro trains at Barbès – Rochechouart station and beeping cars beyond her window were silenced. Then I heard the voice. Shivers of ice still trowel up and down my spine at its recollection.
“Ryyy –annn,” it said, in a thin, lingering hoarse voice. Like that of old woman sore and stricken with tonsillitis, who has to choke up each word. “Ryan, please come in . . . we’ve been waiting for you.”
“Sorry to hear that,” I said, my voice cracking. “Are you ok in there? Should I get Mustafa?”
“No!” ordered the voice, suddenly sharper.
The air around me was so frigid I saw the cloud of my own breath.
The door creaked open on its hinges. I didn’t dare step closer. Instead, I inched backwards, turning my feet towards the stairwell.
“Ryan?” asked the now impatient voice, deeper in tone, and exuding a latent threat.
As I backed away, the floor creaked. No, no, it can’t be Madame Blankenfelde,
I thought, the penny dropping, neither the note nor the voice. She knows damned well that her beloved cat is a boy!
I felt an intense heat on my upper thigh, moments before heavy footsteps advanced from where I knew her bed to be. That’s where I put the old Latvian talisman!
I remembered, hand on my pocket, as I fled for the stairs.
My short fat legs hardly touched the floorboards.
Halfway down the marble staircase I almost collapsed from the exquisite terrifying anticipation of those footsteps catching up with me in the stairwell. Instead, I heard a thunderous slam of a door.
The police called me at Constance’s flat that night. I was not prepared for what she would relay to me from the phone.
“When Mustafa and the police broke down the door Madame Blankenfelde’s room was destroyed,” she said. “Many crucifixes and the metal and wood from her dismembered bed were sticking out from the wall closest to your room – all thrown with inhuman strength.”
The worst was yet to come. Constance was weeping as she translated each line. “Oh my god. They looked inside a small high cupboard . . . they needed a small step ladder. Buried behind clothes and books . . . they found her body!”
“Madam Blankenfelde’s body?” I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
“Brace yourself for what I am about to tell you,” said Constance, her face grey. “Poor Madame Blankenfelde was crushed . . . into a small
“No! How?” I asked, spluttering. My heart was broken. “Impossible. I helped her carry that suitcase into the building. No one could fit inside it, hardly even a child.”
Constance gasped and covered her mouth in horror as she listened, the phone pressed to her ear. “Her neck and limbs had been snapped like twigs.”
I slumped to the floor and wrapped my arms around her legs, my head in her lap. She stroked my head as she spoke.
“The police think she was murdered about four days ago. There was an old photograph in the suitcase with her, with three faces scratched away.”
“Three? No, I saw only two had been scratched.”
It was then I realised Madame Blankenfelde had lived every day knowing one day she would be found. By what
I do not know.
The love that Constance and I shared was a light soon snuffed out by the darkness of what transpired at Residences Rimbaud. On my thigh I still bear the red angular scars of the talisman Madame Blankenfelde gave me. I wonder if the being
that hunted down the members of her family was too strong for the symbols, overcoming the faith held in them. Or, long ago, had some dark act by someone in her family invoked the hunter
, nullifying their power – like those foolish people who were said to invite vampires over their thresholds?
Before Constance and I broke up for the last time we travelled to Riga together, the capital of Latvia. Supposedly it was to enjoy the romantic Christmas markets. We also sourced more of those ancient carved wooden talisman symbols.
Kakis was never found . . .
